清朝の時代一。少林寺一派は朝廷と対立し、危機感を抱いた朝廷は少林寺内部の裏切者を使いホン・ヘイグン(ハン・カーロ /ジェット・リー)の一族を惨殺。少林寺最強の使い手であるホン・ヘイグンは一人生き残った一人息子のマンディンを連れ て7年の逃亡生活を続けていた。ホン親子が金持ちの用心棒として居候中、朝廷は再び少林寺を襲撃し明朝の財宝を奪おう と秘密の地図を血眼に探していた。それを知ったホン・ヘイグンは強大な敵に生死を懸けた戦いを挑む決心をする･･･。
